Experience Three Days of Dynamic Talent and Emerging Art Trends at the "ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO 2026"

ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO 2026 (AFK2026), an artist-led art fair, will be held in Kyoto, a city steeped in history and tradition, from Saturday, February 21 to Monday, February 23, 2026.

Now in its ninth year, AFK2026 aims to foster opportunities for emerging artists to launch their careers and create a new style of interaction where visitors and artists can engage directly. Under the direction of Noboru Tsubaki, the fair adopts the theme "Singularity of Art," striving to forge a new art system that transcends the conventional boundaries of art fairs.

Forty Emerging Artists Gather at the Kyoto National Museum's Meiji Kotokan Hall

The participating artists, 40 emerging talents brimming with potential, were selected through recommendations from an advisory board of established artists and an open call. This year, Ryudai Takano, whose exhibition at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum garnered attention upon its 30th anniversary, and Yurin Sasaki, an AFK2019 invited artist now active internationally, join the advisory board for the first time. Alongside leading artists such as Izumi Kato, Kohei Nawa, and Kenji Yanobe, they recommend the next generation of talent. The selection committee for the open call artists includes Director Tsubaki, along with Hiromi Kurosawa, Kenjiro Hosaka, and Hiroki Yamamoto. Works by artists chosen through recommendations from the advisory board and the multifaceted perspectives of the selection committee will be exhibited in the main venue.

The main venue, the Meiji Kotokan Hall at the Kyoto National Museum, was designed by Katayama Tōkuma, known as the "Imperial Architect." Its French Renaissance-Baroque exterior, along with the fountain leading from the main gate and Auguste Rodin's "The Thinker," symbolizes Kyoto's cultural landscape.
This year, the exhibition area has been expanded to include the normally private entrance hall and central hall, in addition to the main venue and exhibition rooms. A diverse range of expressions, from paintings and installations to video and sculpture, will be showcased.
Experience the moment when new artistic currents emerge, alongside the vibrant talents animating historic Kyoto.
