Kyoto Becomes the Stage for a New Residency and Exhibition Project by Young Artists: "Unis in Unison 2025: Kyoto Rising Artists Project" Launches
Warehouse TERRADA has launched "Unis in Unison 2025: Kyoto Rising Artists Project," a residency and exhibition initiative for young artists, in collaboration with four Kyoto-based art universities.
The venue is TERRADA ART STUDIO Kyoto, located a short distance from Kyoto Station. Artists will reside and create in this studio for approximately three months. The space will then be opened for exhibitions, allowing visitors to experience not only the finished works but also the creative process and traces of thought.
Nineteen artists, alumni of Kyoto University of Art and Design, Kyoto City University of Arts, Kyoto Seika University, and Saga Art University/Saga Junior College of Arts, are participating. They will create and exhibit in two phases, with presentations scheduled for November 2025 and February 2026, respectively. Additionally, studio open days and exchange events featuring resident artists are planned.
Warehouse TERRADA, based in Tennozu, Tokyo, has been promoting art support and community engagement by leveraging its warehouse spaces. Now, in Kyoto, a city where tradition and creativity coexist, the company is embarking on an initiative to create an environment where young artists can pursue their work continuously. This project can be seen as a symbolic endeavor of that commitment.
What kind of chemical reactions will emerge as the expressions of young artists from diverse backgrounds intersect? Let us anticipate the moment a new art scene blossoms from Kyoto.
