Director Bennett Miller, known for meticulous research in acclaimed films like "Capote" (2005) and "Moneyball" (2011), has once again conducted thorough and detailed investigations. He probes the untold story behind the events, crafting a human drama that transcends the boundaries of a true-crime thriller.

Steve Carell, also known for his comedic roles, portrays the eccentric heir DuPont. Shedding his usual image, he embodies a chilling presence, delivering a performance of sorrow and melancholy. The intense ensemble work with co-stars Channing Tatum and the highly regarded Mark Ruffalo adds a profound depth to the narrative.

The Gradual Collapse of the Master-Servant Relationship Between the Wealthy Heir and the Gold Medalist

Mark, an Olympic wrestling gold medalist struggling financially, receives an unexpected offer from the wealthy DuPont heir: join the "Foxcatcher" wrestling team, led by DuPont himself, with the goal of achieving world dominance in the next Olympics.

Mark seizes this dreamlike opportunity, signing a contract with a generous salary and beginning his training at a state-of-the-art facility on DuPont's vast Pennsylvania estate. However, as DuPont's erratic behavior escalates and Mark's mental state deteriorates, their master-servant dynamic begins to unravel. The situation takes a tragic turn when Mark's brother, fellow gold medalist Dave, joins the team, leading to an unforeseen tragedy.

The film unfolds with minimal visual effects and sparse dialogue, creating an pervasive sense of tension. Through the tangled relationship between the solitary millionaire and the stoic wrestling brothers, director Bennett Miller masterfully reveals the distorted inner workings of the amateur sports world, and even touches upon the history and darkness of America itself.
