The concluding installment of Pablo Larraín's trilogy on the Chilean dictatorship.

In 1988, amidst growing international criticism of the Pinochet regime, a national referendum was held to determine its continuation. Based on the intense, 15-minute-per-day advertising battle waged by both the "YES" and "NO" campaigns, the film "NO" garnered significant attention both within Chile and abroad, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.

The film was directed by Pablo Larraín. Following "Tony Manero" and "Post Mortem," this is the final part of his trilogy on the Chilean dictatorship. For this installment, he utilized vintage cameras, blending actual footage with fiction to create a directorial style that immerses the viewer in the era.

Gael García Bernal, a leading Mexican actor who has also recently ventured into directing and producing, delivers a powerful performance as the young advertising executive. The cast also includes Alfredo Castro, a prominent Chilean actor and frequent collaborator with Larraín; Luis Gnecco, Chile's most famous comedian; and Antonia Zegers, an actress and Larraín's wife.

An advertising battle fought with the pride of professional marketers.

One day, René, a busy freelance advertising executive, is visited by his friend Urrutia. Urrutia is a member of the anti-dictatorship left-wing movement and a key figure in the "NO" campaign, which opposes the continuation of the current regime in the upcoming referendum.

For the 27 days leading up to the vote, both the "YES" and "NO" camps were granted 15 minutes of television airtime daily for their campaigns. René, a rising creative talent, was chosen as the head of advertising and commercial production.

Initially unenthusiastic about what he saw as a rigged process designed merely to project an image of equality to the outside world, René gradually becomes invested, driven by his professional pride as an advertising expert. His innovative commercials, celebrating a bright future, joy, and hope, are initially criticized by party members who have suffered under the dictatorship's oppression. However, they gradually begin to capture the hearts of the wider public..

"NO" portrays René's confrontation with the immense power of the "YES" supporters and his fierce media war, waged with bold, innovative, and humorous ideas. It is a political entertainment film that questions the impact of advertising on society.
