"Enemy," a mystery film directed by Canadian Denis Villeneuve, is based on the novel by Portuguese Nobel laureate José Saramago. It will be released nationwide on Friday, July 18th, at TOHO Cinemas Chanter and other theaters.

Jake Gyllenhaal Delivers a Tour-de-Force Performance in a Dual Role
Denis Villeneuve, a director garnering significant attention as a rising talent. With "Incendies" nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Villeneuve is now one of the most anticipated filmmakers, both domestically and internationally. His latest release is a mystery that poses the enigmatic question: "What if you discovered a man identical to yourself?"
The dual role of the protagonist, Adam and Anthony, was masterfully portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal, who previously collaborated with director Villeneuve on "Prisoners."PrisonersAlso starring are French actress Mélanie Laurent as Adam's alluring girlfriend, and Canadian actress Sarah Gadon as his wife. Furthermore, Isabella Rossellini, daughter of Ingrid Bergman, makes a memorable appearance as the protagonist's mother.

Adam, a university history lecturer, is recommended a video by a colleague one day. Intrigued, he watches it and discovers an actor playing a minor role who looks exactly like him. Overwhelmed by shock and then fear, Adam becomes obsessed with finding this actor the next day.
He tracks down the man, Anthony, and begins to watch him from afar, unable to resist the urge to meet and speak with him. The two finally meet that weekend, only to discover they share the same face, voice, build, birthdate, and even the same scars in the same locations.
