Don't miss the theme song by Bono, a close friend of Mandela!
His indomitable spirit, enduring 27 years of imprisonment; his leadership that abolished apartheid not with hatred, but with reconciliation. Mandela was beloved for his great achievements and his loving personality. The fact that world leaders, including U.S. President Obama, flocked to Mandela's funeral last year is a testament to this.
Now, his autobiography, which frankly recounts his arrogance, frivolity, and infidelity, has been made into a highly anticipated film. The love story between Mandela and his wife Winnie, who supported him, was completed over 16 long years.
The film is directed by Justin Chadwick, known for "The Other Boleyn Girl." The cast features Idris Elba from "Pacific Rim," who masterfully embodies Mandela's charisma and charm. His beloved wife, Winnie, is played by Naomie Harris from "Skyfall." The theme song "Ordinary Love," by U2's Bono, who was friends with Mandela during his lifetime, won a Golden Globe Award.
Mandela resorts to terrorism and receives a life sentence.
Mandela enjoyed his youth as a lawyer in Johannesburg. However, witnessing the persecution of black people, he threw himself into the anti-apartheid movement, becoming increasingly involved.
After his first marriage failed, he remarried Winnie, who was much younger. However, as government policies intensified, Mandela chose armed struggle and resorted to terrorism. He was arrested in 1962 and sentenced to life imprisonment for treason in 1964.
Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years. During this time, he deepened his philosophy and came to realize the necessity of abandoning hatred and advocating for coexistence and love for the future of South Africa. However, his sentiments were not conveyed to his beloved wife, who was persecuted and hardened by hatred in the outside world.—.
While Mandela grew as a man through his intense experiences in prison for 27 years, a rift widened between him and his wife Winnie, who protected their family at the risk of her life. This film depicts Mandela's sorrow at having to sacrifice love to achieve his great cause. We are invited to encounter the true self of this man called a "saint."
