New Film by Academy Award-Winning Director Paolo Sorrentino Also Featured

The "Italian Film Festival," now a Golden Week tradition in Tokyo, began in the spring of 2001 as part of the "Italian Year in Japan." This year marks its 14th iteration. It's a film festival that has become a spring tradition, attracting over 10,000 visitors annually, offering a unique opportunity to see films not yet released in Japan.

This year, 14 new films produced since 2012 will be screened. Among them is "The Great Beauty," which also won this year's Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, a new work by Paolo Sorrentino, the acclaimed Italian director who captivated the world with "Il Divo." It will be shown as a special screening.

The lineup also includes a diverse range of films, from serious dramas to thrilling comedies. Some of these may not receive a general release in Japan. This is an unmissable opportunity for film and Italy enthusiasts alike.
