Children Undertake Long, Arduous Journeys to Reach School

This film intimately portrays the daily commutes of children in four vastly different regions of the world, capturing their struggles along dozens of kilometers of hazardous paths as they strive to forge their futures.

The director is Pascal Plisson, who spent 12 years in Kenya filming "The Masai" (2005). With a perspective honed by his focus on humanity's relationship with nature, Plisson delves into the fundamental human drive to learn, regardless of environment, and its profound significance.

We follow Jackson, who bravely traverses 15 kilometers of Kenyan savanna; Carlos, who rides a horse with his sister across the Patagonian plains where the horizon reveals nothing but emptiness; Zahira, who journeys with three female friends over the rugged Atlas Mountains in Morocco to reach their boarding school; and Samuel from India, whose younger brothers push his wheelchair along unpaved roads to school. The film captures the journeys of these four children against the backdrop of magnificent natural landscapes.
