Tony Award Winner Alan Cumming Gives a Powerful Performance as a Show Dancer

A gay couple and a child with Down syndrome. Though different from a conventional family, the three, who found each other in a corner of the world, reveal the essence of a loving family in "Any Day Now." This moving film, which won audience awards at film festivals across the US, is now being released.

The director and screenwriter is Travis Fine, a former actor known for his roles in "The Thin Red Line" (1998) and "Girl, Interrupted" (2000), who also possesses the unique background of being a pilot. Upon reading the original script, he felt a universal resonance in the pain of having a beloved child taken away, which inspired him to bring the story to the screen.

Starring as the show dancer Rudy is Alan Cumming, a Tony Award winner for his role in the stage production of "Cabaret," who delivers a compelling performance. His overwhelming acting, along with his rendition of Bob Dylan's classic song "I Shall Be Released" in the film, captivates the audience. Garrett Dillahunt, known for "No Country for Old Men" (2007), plays the lawyer Paul, and Isaac Leyva, discovered through an audition, offers a heartwarming performance as the young Marco.

Rudy and Paul Face the Law and Scrutiny Because They Are Gay

1979, California. Rudy earns a living as a show dancer while dreaming of becoming a singer. Paul is a lawyer who believes in justice but lives hiding his identity as a gay man. And then there is Marco, a boy who grew up without a mother's love.

Any Day Now 3

The three meet in a corner of the world. Rudy and Paul fall in love, and together with Marco, they begin to build a happy family.

Rudy makes demo tapes on a recorder and sends them to nightclubs, while Marco begins his first school year, learning alongside other children. Their dreams, which seemed on the verge of coming true, were not to last long.

Because they are gay, Rudy and Paul are subjected to the law and public scrutiny, and are separated from Marco. Though not bound by blood, and despite the law's disapproval, the three, who met by chance, are united by deep affection. Rudy and Paul fight to protect the one they love, without asking for anything in return. This is a soul-stirring story that questions the true meaning of love.
