A new Indian film is born, shattering the image of "dancing Bollywood musicals." "God's Own Child," a hymn to life depicting a father with the mind of a 6-year-old and his 5-year-old daughter, and their devoted love for each other, will begin its nationwide release on Saturday, February 15th.

Delivering Warm Love Against a Backdrop of Idyllic South Indian Nature


The film is set in Udhagamandalam, South India, a land of rich nature and artistic beauty. This heartwarming tale, set in this town of simple charm, is a moving human drama that shatters the conventional image of Indian cinema filled with flashy dance and stunt sequences.


Upon its release in India, audiences were so moved that many called their families and loved ones immediately after the screening. At the 7th Osaka Asian Film Festival, it achieved the unprecedented feat of winning both the Grand Prix and the ABC Award simultaneously.

The lead role is played by Vikram, the "Robert De Niro of India," a powerhouse actor. Equally captivating is Baby Sara, who plays Nilā, a role that garnered immense attention. This was almost her first major film role, and she enchanted audiences with her adorable smile and tear-jerking performance. She was praised as "this film would be impossible without Sara."


A Sudden Separation Befalls a Father with a Child's Mind and His Young Daughter


Krishna works at a chocolate factory. Though he possesses the intellect of a 6-year-old, he is an honest man who doesn't know how to lie and is loved by everyone. He marries and has a daughter, but his wife passes away, leaving their child behind. Krishna names his daughter Nilā (meaning "moon") and raises her with the help of those around him.


Years pass, and Nilā grows into a sweet and lovely 5-year-old girl. One day, her maternal grandfather, a prominent figure in town, learns of Krishna and Nilā's existence and forcibly takes Nilā away, declaring, "A parent with a child's mind cannot raise a child." Can Krishna regain the peaceful days he shared with Nilā? And what is the heartbreaking lie Krishna tells for the first time, wishing for Nilā's happiness?
