Episodes from the Legendary Hotel Known as the "Secret Palace"

The documentary film "The Carlyle: The Hotel That New York Fell In Love With," focusing on the legendary hotel "The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel," is now showing. To commemorate its release, a collaboration with Barneys New York has been launched. A display inspired by the film is being presented at Barneys New York Ginza Flagship Store. The event runs until Sunday, August 25, 2019.

A Collaboration with Barneys New York

Founded in 1930 in Manhattan, New York, "The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel" boasts a suite that costs ¥2 million per night. Its clientele includes royalty, former U.S. presidents, film stars, and musicians.
Its luxurious setting has often been used as a filming location for movies and TV dramas. Woody Allen, who stayed at The Carlyle for two years, still plays the clarinet at the hotel's Café Carlyle once a week. The New York Times has dubbed it the "Secret Palace" due to the numerous anecdotes left behind by its star guests.
The documentary "The Carlyle: The Hotel That New York Fell In Love With," which depicts this "The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel," is now showing at Bunkamura Le Cinema and other theaters nationwide.
In this film, a total of 38 stars, including regular guests George Clooney, Wes Anderson, Sofia Coppola, and Harrison Ford, share their interviews. Director Matthew Miele spent four years visiting The Carlyle himself, eliciting numerous untold stories from the long-serving hotel staff.
 
 
To celebrate the film's release, a collaboration has been arranged with Barneys New York, a specialty store founded in Manhattan, New York, in 1923. Both The Carlyle and Barneys New York are iconic New York institutions, loved by customers worldwide for many years.

At Barneys New York Ginza Flagship Store, Japan's flagship location, a special window display embodying the film's world has been created. The display features mannequins dressed in styles inspired by the film's celebrities and still images from the movie. This collaboration brings the film's world to life.
