This year marks Chanel's 100th anniversary, and the film finally arrives in Japan.


Karl Lagerfeld, the visionary who revived Chanel from stagnation after the passing of founder Coco Chanel, is a fashion icon who has shaped the industry for three decades. At one point, he simultaneously helmed design for Chanel, Chloé, Fendi, and his own eponymous label, Karl Lagerfeld.



In "Lagerfeld Confidential," director Rodolphe Marconi offers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at Lagerfeld's public and private life, peeling back the layers of the man hidden behind his signature dark sunglasses.


Filmed over two years, the documentary captures Lagerfeld's passionate work ethic: surrounded by his possessions at home, engrossed in sketching designs while wearing his signature fingerless leather gloves, the vibrant backstage of his collections, and his work as a photographer, shooting models like Nicole Kidman.



It also reveals rare off-duty moments, such as his relaxed smile during lunch with his close friend Princess Caroline of Monaco, and glimpses of his hidden obsessions during flights.
Furthermore, he candidly discusses his influential mother and his own sexuality, topics previously unaddressed. His life philosophy unfolds through his sharp, humorous, and memorable quotes.
