Trainspotting, the ultimate in cheerful yet tragic coming-of-age films that once spearheaded 1990s subculture. Based on a novel by its author, Irvine Welsh, who vividly captured the reality of youth at the time with sharp black humor, comes the film Filth.
His specialties include backroom dealings to frame colleagues and friends, and falsifying overtime claims. On top of that, he's addicted to porn, prostitution, infidelity, alcohol, and cocaine.—He's a walking disaster zone. Will tomorrow ever come for this irredeemable protagonist? This is not merely a shocking black comedy; it's the birth of an outrageously cool crime comedy of love and loss that transforms despair into laughter.
The lead role is played by James McAvoy, a "chameleon actor" who reveals a completely different facet with each role, as seen in "X-Men: First Class" and "Atonement." He throws himself into this crazy role, risking his career, and delivers a performance of his lifetime.
Enter Bruce Robertson, the deranged detective!
The protagonist is Bruce Robertson, a despicable and vile Scottish detective. As the city buzzes with Christmas cheer, a brutal murder of a Japanese exchange student occurs. There are zero witnesses in the initial investigation. Bruce, tasked with leading the inquiry, schemes to gain credit and promotion through this case.
However, as the investigation progresses, he is forced to confront his own past. Then, when the existence of a mysterious woman, said to be a witness, suddenly emerges, a shocking truth is revealed——.
Following the release of Filth, Danny Boyle directed "Trance" (currently playing), starring James McAvoy, and a sequel to "Trainspotting" is slated for production in 2016, with Boyle reuniting with Ewan McGregor. After 17 years, the countdown to a second Trainspotting fever begins now!
