Opening on Saturday, December 14th, is the film 'The Bling Ring.' Sofia Coppola breaks new ground with the sensational subject matter of the teen burglary crew known as the 'Bling Ring'—the 'sparkly ones'—who targeted the mansions of Hollywood celebrities.

Based on a series of real-life burglaries in Los Angeles' Hollywood district, where a group of unruly teens repeatedly broke into the homes of celebrities like Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, and Lindsay Lohan, amassing over 300 million yen in stolen goods. The film garnered attention when Paris Hilton, one of the actual victims, provided her home as a filming location.
Screened at the66th Cannes Film Festivalin May, it was the opening film in the 'Un Certain Regard' section. Director Sofia Coppola is also scheduled to visit Japan to coincide with the 26th Tokyo International Film Festival, which opens on Thursday, October 17th.
Emma Watson, known for the 'Harry Potter' series, plays Nicki, a sexy thief driven by her desires, shattering her previous image as a model student. The cast also features Taissa Farmiga, the youngest sister of actress Vera Farmiga, Israel Broussard, and newcomers Claire Julien and Katie Chang, presenting a fresh ensemble.

The setting is Calabasas, an affluent suburb of Los Angeles, home to many Hollywood stars and popular models. Nicki and her four friends, who idolize the celebrity lifestyle, research stars' mansions online and repeatedly break in, stealing designer clothes and jewelry. What begins as a reckless prank escalates, however, pushing them into a situation from which there is no return.—.
