A Box Office Hit in France with Over 1.2 Million Admissions!
'Dangerous Plot' is a meticulously crafted human drama, fraught with suspense, that emerges from the tense interactions between a high school teacher with a discerning eye and a talented student.
The original title, 'Dans la maison' (English title: 'IN THE HOUSE'), encompassed both the literal act of the student entering the house of a classmate to write his novel, and the metaphorical meaning of a place that contains everything. The Japanese title further specifies this, representing how the story woven by the teacher and student escalates, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy.
Hailed as Ozon's masterpiece at film festivals worldwide, it won both the Best Film and Best Screenplay awards at the 60th San Sebastián International Film Festival, and the FIPRESCI Prize at the 37th Toronto International Film Festival. In France, it was a major hit, attracting over 1.2 million viewers.
The film features a cast of unconventional actors, including the strikingly handsome newcomer Ernst Umhauer in the role of the student, the renowned French actor Fabrice Luchini, and the Academy Award-nominated Kristin Scott Thomas. They bring to life the darkness within human nature and the madness lurking in everyday life, infused with humor.
A Thrilling Psychological Battle Over the Student's Novel
Germain, a high school literature teacher who has given up on his dream of becoming a writer, spends his days bored by the mundane task of grading essays. One day, early in the new semester, he is captivated by an essay written by a student named Claude. As Germain guides him, Claude's talent blossoms. He begins to spy on a classmate's home, observe the beautiful mother, and submit one 'new work' after another. Germain becomes increasingly fascinated by the stories Claude weaves, and his obsession grows, driving the narrative forward. Claude's writing also becomes more extreme.
