The "Devil Wears Prada" Duo Reunites!
A wife who wants to re-examine their marital bond, and a stubborn, conservative husband who fears change. The "31st Year Marital Dispute" begins, a serious yet humorous battle for the remainder of their lives.
Meryl Streep, the acclaimed actress with a record 17 Oscar nominations and three wins, plays the wife who actively confronts their problems. Tommy Lee Jones, also an Oscar winner and familiar from commercials in Japan, portrays the husband who is gruff but secretly shy and kind. Steve Carell plays the counselor who holds the key to mending their relationship.
Directed by David Frankel, who also helmed 'The Devil Wears Prada' starring Streep, the film vividly depicts marital relationships by directly addressing the universal yet rarely discussed struggles and uncertainties we face, offering a fresh perspective.
What Answer Did They Find During a Week of Intensive Therapy?—
Taking a deep breath, Kay approaches her husband Arnold's bedroom. She's resolved to sleep together tonight, but he rejects her, saying, "I don't feel up to it tonight." It's their 31st year of marriage. Arnold eats the same breakfast, comes home at the same time, has the same conversations, and watches the same golf programs every day. Their children are grown, and they can't even find a reason to argue anymore.
Kay, tired of this routine, decides to re-examine their relationship. Without telling Arnold, she books a week-long residential counseling session and forces him onto a plane. But what awaited them was a surprising therapy session filled with unexpected "trials."
Kay, revealing her emotions for the first time, and Arnold, gradually opening up about his true feelings. What answer did they ultimately find?—?
