The film is directed by Derek Cianfrance, who has also worked on numerous documentaries. His second feature, 'Blue Valentine' (2010), garnered widespread acclaim.

Ryan Gosling, who starred in 'Blue Valentine,' reunites with director Cianfrance. The cast also features Bradley Cooper, making his first Oscar-nominated performance in 'Silver Linings Playbook,' and Eva Mendes, who also delivered a strong performance in 'Holy Motors.' This stellar trio of acclaimed young actors is sure to generate buzz.

Luke, a stunt motorcyclist at a traveling carnival, lives day to day. To find Romina, his former lover, he leaves the carnival and arrives in Schenectady, New York. Upon learning that Romina secretly gave birth to his child, he plans a bank robbery with a mechanic he met in town to support them.

Fifteen years later, Luke's son, Jason, is a high school student. Unaware of his parents' past, he becomes friends with AJ, the son of his father's pursuer. However, upon discovering the secret of their fathers, Jason is driven by a desire for revenge. What will Jason choose after his internal struggle?—.
