The youngest nominee for the Academy Award for Best Actress!

"Beasts of the Southern Wild," which captivated the world, first won the Grand Prix at the Sundance Film Festival in January last year, followed by four awards including the Camera d'Or for Best New Director at the Cannes Film Festival in May. This original story, which depicts both creativity and harsh reality, is finally set for release in Japan.

The director, co-writer, and composer is the 29-year-old newcomer Benh Zeitlin. Despite a relatively low budget, he showcased his diverse talents with visually stunning cinematography that belies the budget and a fantastical storytelling approach.




The lead role was chosen from 4,000 auditionees, and Quvenzhané Wallis, the youngest ever, was nominated for this year's Academy Award for Best Actress. She delivers a superb performance as Hushpuppy, a girl with direct and innocent eyes.

A storm hits the island, and Hushpuppy loses everything

Hushpuppy lives energetically on "Bathtub Island," a place that seems to be at the end of the world, yet is peaceful. One night, a storm strikes Bathtub Island, taking everything away. Suddenly, Hushpuppy, having lost her beloved home and companions, also learns that her father, Wink, is gravely ill.





However, with her father's words and her mother's warmth in her heart, Hushpuppy summons her courage and, with the help of gentle animals, brings a miracle to Bathtub Island.—!
