A 26-Year-Old New Director Makes a Shocking Debut Based on 'That Incident'!

Ryan Coogler makes a stunning directorial debut with a film based on an incident that sent shockwaves across the United States. Oscar Grant was a 22-year-old Black man living in the Bay Area of Oakland, California. Known for his affable nature and deep care for his friends, he was also known to possess a certain roughness, much like the people in his community. On New Year's Day 2009, Grant was pulled from a BART train at a station connecting San Francisco and the Bay Area by transit police responding to a disturbance. He was shot and killed while being held face down on the ground, despite having stopped resisting. The entire incident was captured on a bystander's cell phone video, and upon seeing it, community members cried out in anger on Grant's behalf..
