Uncovering the Truth of the Bones Brigade, Who Laid the Foundation for the Massive Skateboarding Industry

Stacey Peralta, a member of the "Z-BOYS" team that revolutionized skateboarding in the 1970s and became a hub for street culture, later became a filmmaker. His autobiographical documentary "DOGTOWN & Z-BOYS," released in 2001, became a major topic of conversation in Japan and a global hit, selling over a million DVDs worldwide.



Then, in the 1980s after the "Z-BOYS" disbanded, Peralta himself created the legendary team "BONES BRIGADE," which saved the skateboarding industry during its slump. More than 10 years after his previous film, Peralta tackles a deeply personal subject in this documentary, which is finally set for release.


The film features a star-studded lineup of Bones Brigade's key members, including the globally renowned Rodney Mullen and Steve Caballero. Interweaving precious archival footage from the past, the film illuminates the street culture of the 1980s and garnered significant attention at the Sundance Film Festival held in January of this year.



Their story, built on work, skill, passion, and the belief that the impossible is possible, laid the foundation for the skateboarding industry, which has since grown into a multi-trillion-yen global enterprise. The legendary team is now brought back to life through film.
