No Day Is Ordinary

March 11, a day when Japan and the world faced the threat of nature. "How did you spend that day, one year later?" In response to this question posed to the world by Ridley Scott, the master filmmaker behind Oscar-winning films like "Gladiator," over 8,000 submissions totaling 300 hours of footage were uploaded via YouTube from 12 countries, primarily Japan, but also including the UK, USA, Germany, and even Antarctica.

'JAPAN IN A DAY' is a film made from these individual moments. It can be considered the Japanese version of "LIFE IN A DAY," following Ridley Scott's 2011 directorial work "LIFE IN A DAY."

Paper cranes made in mourning for those lost in the earthquake. A desolate town where reconstruction has yet to progress. A wedding celebrating a new beginning. The birth of a new life. And everyday scenesThis film compiles various scenes shot by people on that day. These images are woven together to form a story, creating a single film.

The ordinary, yet special, event of March 11, 2012, beginning and ending. This work, imbued with the message "No day in life is ordinary," teaches us the wonder of being alive right here, right now.
