A Glamorous Co-Starring of Princes and Stars
The first to appear before the fans was Daniel Craig, dressed in a black tuxedo. Responding to the cheers of the crowd, he moved along, signing autographs. Craig, rumored to be retiring from the role of Bond after this film, commented, "This film was made possible by the incredible hard work of so many wonderful people. That's why tonight is so special. I feel we've made an exciting film, and I'm so proud of it, I can't wait for everyone to see it." He then posed for photos with Bond girls Léa Seydoux and Monica Bellucci, who also made a glamorous entrance in alluring outfits befitting their roles.
Next, the appearance of Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, along with Prince Harry, sent the fans into a frenzy. The royal couple shared a firm handshake with Craig, congratulating him on the release of the latest film. This marks the fourth consecutive film in the series to be attended by members of the British Royal Family, following Queen Elizabeth II at '007 Casino Royale' (2006), Prince William and Prince Harry at '007 Quantum of Solace' (2008), and the then-Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles at '007 Skyfall' (2012).
The film also had its general release in the UK on the same day. This is the first time a premiere and general release have coincided. Director Sam Mendes told the BBC, "It's a fantastic feeling to know that as we open the Royal Premiere, cinemas across the UK are filling up."
Teppei Arita of Cream Stew, who has been appointed the official ambassador for the film in Japan, was also present and made a highly enthusiastic appearance on the red carpet. Arita, a self-proclaimed huge fan of the "Daniel Craig era of Bond," shared his thoughts: "I believe this is his masterpiece. Compared to previous '007' films, the intensity and scale were the greatest."
The 24th film in the series, '007 Spectre' will have preview screenings in Japan from Friday, November 27th to Sunday, November 29th, with general release beginning Friday, December 4th.
