Enjoy Extended Experiences at Home with "UNLIMITED REALITY"

As part of the "Shibuya 5G Entertainment Project," four online content pieces have been released in collaboration with the anime "Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045." These offerings are packed with technology that resonates with the anime's world.

Shibuya, a Hub of Culture and Technology, Expressed Through Stylish Visuals

KDDI, in cooperation with the Shibuya Ward Tourism Association and Shibuya Future Design, is promoting the "Shibuya 5G Entertainment Project" to contribute to Shibuya Ward's initiatives for a city of creative culture.

As part of this initiative, a collaboration has been formed with the Netflix original anime series "Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045."

Four online content pieces have launched under the "UNLIMITED REALITY" extended experience, where the anime's world is synthesized into reality.

Initially, this event was planned as the first phase of the "Shibuya 5G Entertainment Project," featuring an experiential event set in the streets of Shibuya.

However, considering the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided to transform the content into an online format, allowing people to enjoy it safely from home.

The four content pieces are as follows:

Overview | Experiential XR content has been converted into an online format for enjoyment at home. Experience an original story in 360° VR where Motoko and Batou fight criminals in the streets of Shibuya. This challenges the realization of a reality unbound by constraints, born from 5G, extending beyond the reality we currently perceive. It is expected to further enhance the Shibuya street experience. Available on the au Smart Pass Premium site and YouTube (smartphone viewing only). Viewing with simple smartphone VR goggles will offer deeper immersion into the story.

Overview | Collect images of six main characters, including Motoko Kusanagi and Batou, from daily posts on Twitter by participating companies and related organizations of the Shibuya 5G Entertainment Project. Share them on Twitter with the designated hashtag for a chance to win a special collaboration T-shirt designed by the popular fashion brand "F-LAGSTUF-F" for 100 winners. This is an original design featuring visuals specially created by Ilya Kuvshinov, the character designer for "Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045," for "UNLIMITED REALITY."

Overview | An Instagram filter that superimposes the faces of Section 9 members onto your own. A "#Section9ProfileHack" challenge is also underway using this filter.
