Exhibition Showcases Refined Glassware from the Late 18th Century to the Present
A collection of Finnish glass, ceramics, and furniture that embodies "beauty in everyday life" and timeless design. Since the early 20th century, Finland has produced outstanding designers such as Alvar & Aino Aalto, Kaj Franck, Tapio Wirkkala, and Timo Sarpaneva, gaining international acclaim particularly from the 1950s onwards, a reputation that continues to this day.
The "beautiful environment" that inspired their creations and became the color and form of their works and products. As Finland's leading glass manufacturer, "Iittala," continues to produce items with the message of "eternal design against disposable culture," their approach has always been gentle on the earth, existing in harmony with nature.
This exhibition presents the allure of Finnish design, divided into five chapters: the dawn of the late 18th to 1920s, the period of advancement in the 1930s, the golden age of the 1950s, the transitional period of the 1960s-70s, and the present day. Precious pieces from the Finnish National Glass Museum and renowned private collections will be displayed together, categorized by era.
Finland, also known as the homeland of Santa Claus. We invite you to enjoy the beautiful world of glass unfolded by the design from the land of forests and lakes, coinciding with the arrival of Christmas.
