Wajo Waraku | Vol. 20: Drinking Hirōki, a Testament to Sake's Excellence

Japanese sake today is more delicious and wonderful than ever before.

Drinking "Hirōki," I Realize Sake Is Simply the Best!

At Hiroki Shuzō Honten, we brew "Seishu Hirōki" in Aizu, Fukushima Prefecture. Looking back at the previous "Wajō Waraku" articles, I notice there's a lot of talk about cars. So, as the self-proclaimed biggest car enthusiast in the sake industry, I'll start with a story about cars.

A "Sinful" Thought About Sake

I, Kenji Hiroki, 43 years old, saw a car at the Frankfurt Motor Show that I fell instantly, and perhaps foolishly, in love with. Just the other day, I went to see it on its first day of display at a Japanese showroom.

It's an Audi. The "R8 Spyder."
The coupe model has been available for some time, and I'd occasionally see them around town, but I never quite warmed to the design of the roofline and the rear of the doors. But this Spyder...!
Seeing it in person, it's undeniably cool. What's more, its V10 engine is basically the same as the Gallardo's. Just knowing it shares an engine with Lamborghini makes my heart race.

For those of us who grew up during the supercar boom, the name Lamborghini still holds a special magic. That's why the R8 Spyder is so appealing. Undeniably appealing. If only it weren't for that rather sinful price tag... Ah.

Speaking of sinful things, it reminds me of sake.Today's sake is more delicious and wonderful than ever before. If our industry fails to properly convey this to consumers, I believe it would be a truly sinful disservice to Japan's future.

So, allow me to use this space to declare loudly:
"Sake is the best!"
I apologize for making you read my clumsy writing; it was also rather sinful, but thank you for bearing with me.

Also, I would be delighted if you would visit the Wajō Waraku website.
