Introducing Miyagi's Promising Sake Brands: Abe Hachiten
Sendai, the City of Trees, a metropolis of just over a million people. While there's no snow in winter, the cold here reaches its peak. Amidst this, I took this shot from the Tenshudai at Aoba Castle ruins, partly for a break and partly for this OPENERS article! It's a place locals rarely visit.

A Region Rich with Strong Contenders
Meanwhile, Sendai residents spend their days under the watchful gaze of this rarely seen, rear view of the Date Masamune statue.

Local Miyagi sake, finally gaining recognition among the people of this region.
Led by Wajo Waraku members' 'Hidakami' and 'Kenkuni', it has become a region worthy of being called a sake powerhouse, with strong contenders abounding.
So, while we're at it, let us introduce Miyagi's promising sake brands.
Yamawa Sake Brewery's 'Yamawa' from Kami Town, Kami District, Miyagi Prefecture (formerly Niida). It's pronounced 'Yama-wa', by the way.

Junmai Ginjo, Miyama Nishiki at 50% polish
A masterpiece from Daisuke Ito, one of Miyagi's promising young brewers, this is his sixth brew of the winter season. He is currently 30 years old.
It's a vibrant, undiluted nama-zake full of youthful energy. He's working hard with the spirit of 'Defeat Hidakami!' and 'Surpass Kenkuni!', but that's a joke... If you're interested, please give it a try. We ship anywhere in Japan.
