The "GINZA ILLUMINATION," a beloved year-end and New Year tradition that began in 2011, will be held again this year starting December 3rd (Saturday). "Hikari Michi - Charity Collection Boxes" for Tohoku reconstruction support will also be placed at various stores.

Artistic Illuminations!
The Ginza Dori Association, an organization that includes CHANEL, and the Ginza International Luxury Committee (GILC) will once again host the popular and authentic "GINZA ILLUMINATION."
The event will run for 38 days, from Saturday, December 3rd to Monday, January 9th, 2017, along Chuo Dori in Ginza from 1st to 8th blocks, and on Harumi Dori from the Sukiyabashi intersection to the vicinity of the Ginza 4-chome intersection.
This initiative began in 2011 to support the reconstruction of Tohoku. Since then, every year at the end of the year, 20 luxury brands in Ginza have placed "Hikari Michi - Charity Collection Boxes" within their boutiques alongside the "Hikari Michi" illumination.
The collected donations will be contributed to the "Children's Support Fund for the Great East Japan Earthquake" managed by the Japan Association for UNESCO.
This year's illumination features "PITAYA," a French creation studio internationally active as a "light artist." Sixteen elegant illumination objects inspired by "flowers and trees" will be installed along Ginza's Chuo Dori. In a first-time initiative, 32 streetlights will also be adorned with basket-shaped illuminations, lighting up the avenue from above.
On Harumi Dori, 130,000 special champagne gold LEDs will be wrapped around guardrails and streetlights, complementing the flowerbeds of Ichii trees on Chuo Dori, creating a sophisticated ambiance. This year's theme, "Garden of Light," presents an illumination with a strong artistic focus, allowing visitors to enjoy two distinct expressions of Ginza: "Daytime Ginza" and "Nighttime Ginza."
