The Flagship Store "Christian Louboutin Aoyama" Opens

The film "Fire by Louboutin," a 3D cinematic presentation of the 80-day show staged in 2012, is set to premiere on Saturday, December 21st. Ahead of its release, Japan's seventh boutique (including directly managed stores) and the world's 81st flagship store, "Christian Louboutin Aoyama," has opened.

Interiors Inspired by the Ambiance of Aoyama

Christian Louboutin opened its first freestanding boutique in Paris at 19, rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau in 1992, and now operates over 80 directly managed stores worldwide, including men's boutiques. The newly opened "Christian Louboutin Aoyama" features interior design by the New York-based architectural design firm 212box. Lead architect Eric Clough collaborated closely with Christian Louboutin on the design.

The boutique's facade is constructed from a variety of materials including glass, metal, and concrete. The interior utilizes the same materials as the facade, creating a sense of continuity between the women's area at the front on the first floor and the men's area further back. Signature elements include Christian Louboutin's characteristic arched display shelves—a must-see is the globally consistent display depicting birds taking flight from small windows!—and red carpets. Furthermore, reflecting Louboutin's passion for travel and craftsmanship, the boutique showcases unique details incorporating elements from various countries and regions, from Morocco to New England.

The men's area, in particular, is spacious and lounge-like, with furnishings made from African wood andタイガー, and leather-clad walls, all designed to showcase the brand's world. Amidst this elegant atmosphere, the "Dictateur" collection, featuring metal embroidery details favored by Louboutin, and the men's dress shoe "Mamounia" are displayed.

Christian Louboutin, the "Shoe Magician" Captivating Women Worldwide, Speaks

Christian Louboutin, who visited Japan for the opening, commented, "We developed the design in collaboration with the architectural firm 212box, sharing concepts and images. This is my first time seeing the store, and I am very satisfied with the spaciousness, especially the men's area which features natural light. Aoyama feels like Paris."

Louboutin particularly favors the elegant travertine tiles set in a rosette pattern that cover one entire wall. "There are few straight lines inside the store; various natural materials coexist and overlap. The interplay of light and shadow they create reminds me of Jun'ichirō Tanizaki's 'In'ei Raisan' (In Praise of Shadows), which I find very appealing."

The Spring/Summer 2014 women's collection features many flat shoes influenced by the men's collection, and special orders are planned for the men's space in the future.

We invite you to fully immerse yourself in the world of Christian Louboutin, featuring not only men's and women's shoes but also bags and small leather goods, here in Aoyama.
