DESPERADO | "DESPERADO," a Community Store with the Concept of "3-Star Hotel + Open Field," Opens

DESPERADO | DESPERADO

A community store where fashion, and the genres, items, events, and people that capture our interest, converge.

Community Store "DESPERADO" Opens

Along the JR Yamanote Line, a pool-like space in front of the shop delights the eye, and stepping inside reveals a comfortable space imagined as a three-star hotel lobby.──DESPERADO, the select shop that closed at the end of January in Shibuya's Sakuragaoka-cho, has reopened with a fresh new look.

The newly launched DESPERADO is the venture of Eiichi Izumi, who previously handled direction and buying, now having established his own company. Beyond selling clothing and miscellaneous goods selected by Mr. Izumi during his global travels, the store has opened as a place where people can gather and communicate through planned events and items across various genres.

DESPERADO aims to be a "three-star hotel," with the interior designed to evoke the lobby of a three-star hotel featuring an open kitchen. Accents include a corner with zebra-patterned carpet and three conceptual small spaces resembling guest rooms. One of these rooms is a gallery, exhibiting works by emerging designers and artists from Japan and abroad.

Furthermore, with "communication" as a keyword, all fixtures, including the walls that partition the rooms, are movable, allowing for flexible and free layout arrangements. The shop's front garden and interior are envisioned as a single stage, creating an open space like a "field" where collections can be held.

The front garden features Mexican-inspired landscaping and a design reminiscent of a poolside area, with tables evoking a poolside setting and a small structure acquired from the bookstore Utrecht. Plans include workshops on clothing, exhibitions, film screenings, and fashion show viewings. The aim is to encounter new things, ideas, and people in a relaxed, visit-anytime atmosphere.
