Karl Lagerfeld's first fur collection, 1965

Since its founding in 1925, FENDI has been a pioneer, boasting the highest level of technical skill in fur creation. The history of this Italian luxury brand began when Edoardo and Adele Fendi opened a shop selling leather goods with an attached workshop in Rome. Through the appointment of Karl Lagerfeld as designer in 1965 and continuous innovation, its fur items continue to captivate women worldwide with their advanced craftsmanship and sophisticated design.

This exhibition, "FENDI - UN ART AUTRE: Another Kind of Art, Creation and Innovation in Craftsmanship," introduces the creativity of FENDI, which has consistently pursued art and research for nearly 90 years.

This exhibition, the first of its kind in Japan, is curated by Emanuela Nobile Mino, an art historian and critic active both in Italy and internationally. Approximately 30 pieces, created between 1970 and 2013, symbolizing FENDI's innovations in the fashion world, will be displayed in two sections: "Anatomy and Color" and "Luxury and Revolution."

The "Anatomy and Color" section explores traditional manufacturing processes alongside experimental techniques developed by FENDI, while "Luxury and Revolution" showcases FENDI's unique concept of new luxury, including a collection from 1997 that featured fur tulle applied to Japanese kimonos.

Additionally, a fur atelier will be set up at the venue, where artisans will demonstrate their exceptional skills throughout the exhibition. An introductory room will also be available, detailing the brand's history and the evolution of fur creation.

This exhibition expresses the history and future of FENDI's art and craft. We invite you to fully immerse your senses in the world of FENDI's art, filled with the tradition passed down since its founding, unparalleled craftsmanship, and passion for creation.
