A Designer's Favorite: Limited Edition Reissues Launch Early
Designed in 1997 by Silvia Fendi, the third-generation Fendi family designer, the legendary Fendi "Baguette" bag quickly captivated the world. Its name, inspired by the way one might carry a French baguette under the arm, resonated with many, and it continues to be adored by celebrities and fans globally. Now, in 2012, it marks its 15th anniversary with a series of special releases.
First, six of Silvia Fendi's most cherished models from the archive collection, featured in the "Baguette Book" to be released worldwide in June, will be reissued as limited editions. Excitingly for Japanese fans, these will be available for pre-sale in Japan starting April 4th, ahead of the global launch!
Each "Baguette" carries Silvia Fendi's personal sentiments from her creative journey. For the "Jeans" model, popular in Japan, she recalls, "My youngest daughter, Leonetta, was picking daisies and arranging them on my jeans." The "Tucano" model, designed with a desire to "always carry the colors and sounds of Rio de Janeiro with me," is a tribute to her deep affection for the city, where she frequently traveled between Italy and Brazil.
Fans will also appreciate the special "LIMITED EDITION" engraved plate inside the pocket, a mark of its exclusivity. These are currently available for pre-sale in Japan at Isetan Shinjuku.
Exquisite Limited Edition Bags Blend Eastern and Western Craftsmanship
Another must-see is the limited edition "Baguette Kaga-Nui Limited Edition," a special collaboration featuring Kanazawa's traditional "Kaga-Nui" embroidery. This bag will be exclusively available during the "FATTO A MANO A BAGUETTE EXPERIENCE" event (FATTO A MANO means "handmade" in Italian). Each bag features one of three motifs—butterflies and flowers, scattered leaves, or wisteria—elegantly incorporated using the distinctive Kaga-Nui technique, which employs various silk threads to create a delicate yet vibrant, three-dimensional effect.
At the event venue, demonstrations by Fendi's Italian artisans and Kaga-Nui embroiderers will be showcased. This offers a rare opportunity to witness Fendi's exceptional craftsmanship up close!
