KURO: A New Brand for Spring/Summer
Introducing BYKURO: The "REMAKE" Series
Launched this spring/summer season, KURO—a brand whose name means "black" in Japanese—introduces BYKURO, a new line that maintains KURO's core philosophy while proposing "relaxed casual wear for adults" with a distinct concept each season. This season features the "REMAKE Series." The debut collection focuses on vintage fisherman knits.

Focusing on Knits Crafted for Over a Century
BYKURO, the conceptual line from KURO, presents vintage "REMAKE Series" pieces and classical styles, with camel as a key color.
The brand also offers modern casual wear using traditional indigo dyeing techniques. It draws inspiration from Japan's unique virtues: understated modesty, disciplined and perfected beauty, and the spirit of "wabi-sabi"—a traditional craftsmanship passed down through generations of artisans. KURO meticulously develops its own spinning, dyeing, sewing, and finishing processes.
The fisherman knits featured in this season's "REMAKE Series" originated over a century ago on Ireland's west coast, in the Aran Islands, where they were hand-knitted by women. Even today, sweaters are still knitted using the same methods on these islands.
The distinctive knit patterns are imbued with the prayers of women wishing for the safe return and abundant catch of their fisherman husbands. The combination of stitches varies among knitters, much like family crests, with techniques passed down from mother to daughter, and from daughter to granddaughter.
BYKURO deconstructs the charm of these Aran sweaters, rich with historical and traditional techniques, and reinterprets them into a "REMAKE" form.
