Adhering to the Concept of The Tweed Run in London, the Dress Code is "Tweed"
1. Promoting the correct way to ride a bicycle and proper etiquette
2. Appealing to cyclists to observe traffic rules
3. Promoting Tokyo as a city where cycling is enjoyable, both domestically and internationally
4. Proposing stylish cycling as a way to further enjoy riding a bicycle
5. Establishing it as a genre of fashion and revitalizing the fashion industry
These are the five policies upheld by Tweed Run Tokyo. The event, which began in London, the home of tweed, in 2009, is now held independently in various countries worldwide, including London, NY, Florence (during PITTI UOMO), and Victoria (Canada), Sydney, among others.
Tweed Run Tokyo, held in Tokyo, aims to promote safe cycling while also showcasing Tokyo as a hub for fashion, culture, and art by riding through the city, conveying the joy of urban cycling. On the day of the event, Ted Young-Ing, the founder and organizer of the original "The Tweed Run" in London, and event director Jacqui Shannon are scheduled to visit Japan.
The special poncho, presented to participants as a commemorative gift, features a print selected by Hirofumi Kurino, Senior Advisor in Creative Direction at United Arrows.Hirofumi KurinoThe poncho design itself was created by Yasuto Kamoshida, Creative Director at United Arrows, who received the Pitti Immagine Uomo Award in June.Yasuto KamoshidaParticipants will receive a tweed-patterned poncho made with Komatsu Matere's digital print fabric, MONALISA®, as a gift.
