Completed After Numerous Prototypes
Established in 1950, Seikō Corporation is an OEM manufacturer that produced items for iconic brands such as VAN's cut-and-sew garments and Jack Nicklaus polo shirts. Throughout its long history, the company has remained dedicated to craftsmanship, continuing to support the growth of Japan's apparel industry today.
For this collaboration, Factelier aimed to create 'the best polo shirt that only Seikō can make,' meticulously researching elements such as the collar, shoulder slope, button placement, and sleeve head height. After more than ten rounds of prototyping, the ultimate basic polo shirt was born.
The collar is designed with a subtle, elegant fit, and the placket offers a relaxed impression without leaning too casual. These accent details are the result of meticulous calculation.
The beautifully textured piqué knit is custom-woven from specially developed yarn. By using a softly spun 'hybrid extra-long staple cotton,' derived from a crossbreed of superior cotton varieties, the fabric achieves a soft texture and a moderate sheen. The fine-count cotton yarn used for the collar is twisted with filament yarn, which resists shrinkage after washing, ensuring the garment maintains its shape.
For sewing, various types of machines are used effectively. Durable stitching is employed in areas requiring strength, while unnecessary stitching is avoided in areas where seams might affect the silhouette, resulting in a beautiful line.
This polo shirt, initially released in June, sold out quickly. Due to popular demand, additional production has been arranged, and sales have resumed on Factelier (http://factelier.com) since Wednesday, July 10th.
