Playful Details Take Center Stage

The inspiration for this latest collaboration between Nike and animation studio LAIKA is Mr. Link, the protagonist of the studio's new film, "Missing Link."

The Missing Link x Nike Air Max 1 Susan was designed by Tinker Hatfield, Nike's VP of Advanced Concepts, and former animator Michael Berger. LAIKA's costume designer Deborah Cook's Mr. Link character, with his checkered suit, inspired the materials and textures used in the Nike Air Max 1 design.

The design evokes the Pacific Northwest, the character's roots, while also suggesting a playful contrast to the refined frost. Leather covering the midsole, the D-ring eyelets, and the tongue material lend a fun yet sophisticated air to the style.
