An aesthetic of duality. TAION × Universal Works presents a reversible collection, a fusion of British and Japanese values.
TAION × Universal Works
TAION, a Japanese brand specializing in inner down, and Universal Works, a British brand of modern British style, have announced their first collaboration collection. Centered around the concept of "unity of opposites," this collection, where the philosophies of both brands intersect, features a lineup of five items.

Universal Works was founded in 2008 by David Keyte. After gaining experience in the fashion industry with brands like Paul Smith and Maharishi, he launched Universal Works, creating a unique worldview that blends tradition with innovative approaches.
Meanwhile, TAION, with its slogan "pursuit of value," has focused on inner down within Japan. The brand name, derived from "taion" (body temperature), signifies latent warmth and evokes a Japanese origin. The British and Japanese sensibilities of both brands, along with their shared universal values in craftsmanship, naturally resonated, leading to this collaboration.
The collection comprises five reversible items in total: two based on Universal Works' signature designs and three based on TAION's classic styles.
There's a reason for the meticulous attention to making all items fully reversible, functional on both sides. The British side, the Japanese side. The past, the future. All fronts and backs. Ultimately, it embodies the "unity of opposites" concept, suggesting that everything leads to the same conclusion.
The inner down jacket features "PEACE LOVE & SOUL" embroidery, conveying a message of "May peace and love fill the world."

In a world rife with conflict, this collaboration highlights not opposition, but the truth of "unity of opposites." Seemingly opposing cultures and values are, at their root, connected. Britain and Japan, tradition and innovation, front and back. This collaboration sends a message to the world that these elements ultimately arrive at the same destination.
