Vibram, the Italian sole manufacturer, and atmos, the Japanese sneaker brand, are collaborating for the first time. A limited-time shoe repair pop-up exclusively for sneakers will be held at atmos Harajuku from December 6 (Fri) to December 15 (Sun), 2024.

Vibram is a high-performance rubber sole manufacturer from Italy, renowned for its quality and adopted by shoe brands worldwide. To propose a new form of repair and customization, Vibram is running a project called "#REPAIR IF YOU CARE." This initiative counters a throwaway culture by extending the product lifecycle and promoting environmental consciousness through the reuse and customization of unwanted shoes.

atmos, the venue for this collaboration, is a sneaker store that opened in Tokyo's Harajuku in 2000. It is globally recognized as a hub for sneaker culture. The brand name, derived from "atmosphere," aims to elevate sneakers into fashion items. By collaborating with national brands, releasing exclusive models, and conducting test launches of the latest products, atmos has consistently remained at the forefront of sneaker culture, expanding its influence from Tokyo to the world.

The realization of this collaboration stems from the resonance between atmos's desire to "let people feel the history and future of sneakers" and Vibram's philosophy of "#REPAIR IF YOU CARE."

During the event, a special Vibram booth will be set up on the first floor of the atmos Harajuku store, showcasing various designs of the brand's high-performance rubber soles. A dedicated device will also be available for visitors to experience Vibram's grip firsthand. Furthermore, on six weekend days, repair and customization orders will be accepted by professional artisans.

This repair service is limited to sneakers. For shoes requiring repair or resoling, artisans will propose the optimal combination based on design and intended use. The skilled craftsmanship of professionals with specialized knowledge and extensive experience will breathe new life into the footwear.

Customers who request repairs will also receive a complimentary drink at "LATTEST," the in-store cafe. While enjoying this service, they can fully appreciate the appeal of shoe repair offered by Vibram.

Vibram's "#REPAIR IF YOU CARE" project aims not just to repair shoes but also to raise environmental awareness through repair. Reusing shoes destined for disposal or giving them new roles through customization contributes to environmental care. This initiative also leads to the creation of new value by merging fashion and sustainability.

This initiative, jointly promoted by Vibram and atmos, is one approach to sustainability within the fashion industry. By not discarding old shoes and instead giving them new life through repair, they become items with even greater sentimental value.
