The 501® Reimagined for Modern Times
140 years after the birth of blue jeans, a new era dawns. This spring, the 501® jeans, while retaining the iconic five-pocket design forged through Levi’s® rich history, have been reborn as the new global standard for modern denim: the “Modern Straight.”

The Perfected Proportion of the Modern Straight
A sharp, refined waistline, flowing into a slimmer leg from the knee down to the hem. The new 501® features a waistband that is half an inch larger, creating a straighter line from hip to waist.
This adjustment to the waistband eliminates the previous roundness around the hips, reducing the fullness of the back yoke when worn and resulting in a sharper silhouette. The back pockets have been slightly elongated for a cleaner visual appearance.
Furthermore, the enlarged pocket openings enhance usability. The leg line, a key feature, is now one inch narrower at the hem, creating a slim and elegant silhouette from the knee to the ankle. While honoring tradition, the 501® has evolved into a modern straight-leg fit.
The collection ranges from unwashed models to those with authentic, time-worn finishes. Additionally, it introduces new colors as part of the global collection, with a total of 16 variations available.
The Global 501® Campaign
To celebrate 140 years of the 501® jeans, Levi’s® is launching the “My 501®” campaign in 24 countries until May 2013. Participants are invited to upload their personal 501® style to a digital photo gallery at http://www.LEVIS501.com using Twitter or Instagram, sharing it with the world. Selected photos will be featured in the exclusive limited-edition book, “Book of 501®,” alongside portraits of global icons.
