A New Last (Shoe Tree) Born from Bespoke Experience

The essence of walking is to land on the heel and push off with the toe. In pursuing "walking comfort," Otsuka Shoe prioritized stabilizing the heel and ensuring the movement of pushing off the ground was unimpeded.──.

The new brand, Otsuka Plus, adopts Otsuka's most evolved "new last." It creates a unique wearing comfort, different from simply narrowing the arch, through features like a heel cup that subtly differs for the left and right foot to enhance hold, and the position of the instep peak angled inward for easy foot insertion (photo below).

Furthermore, they pursued a Goodyear welted construction with improved flexibility. The cork in the sole is the same granular cork as before, offering both flexibility and a comfortable fit to the foot, but by adding slits (grooves) in the part that contacts the ground, superior flexibility is achieved.

The lining uses a soft, fibrous sheep material, typically used for hand-sewn and bespoke shoes. Considering friction and foot contact during walking, attention has been paid even to the unseen parts.
