A Noteworthy Brand Where Originality Connects with Self-Expression

Clothing as a Tool, Reflecting the Inner World of the Wearer

Launched at the international exhibition "Pitti Immagine Uomo" in Italy for the Spring/Summer 2013 season, the menswear brand "CHUNGKAWAI" is now making its full domestic debut this season. We draw attention to the world created by Masayuki Kawai, who has honed his skills as a patternmaker and designer for many years, with his uncompromising craftsmanship that embraces a sense of mode, and his refined, thoughtfully balanced designs.

Expressing the Depth of Material Texture and Detail Through Movement

──What points did you focus on for this season's look shoot, and what should people pay attention to?

By focusing on dynamic shooting, I believe we were able to express the depth of the material's texture and details. The impression is entirely different from the Spring/Summer catalog, including the models and posing, which is also a key point.

──What is the key look (coordination) for this season?

The coordination of a navy corduroy jacket, vest, and rib-combination pants, paired with a navy shirt, deliberately uses similar tones.
Additionally, the switching detail on the pants and the velvet tape visible when the jacket cuffs are turned up or the lapels are raised serve as accents, balancing the overall look.

──What are the key items and key colors?

The key item is the rib-combination pants. The key colors are navy, gray, and black.

──What "materials" did you focus on this season?

Using lily yarn, we created voluminous long knits and long cardigans with a hand-knitted feel. This enhances their softness and texture, imbuing the materials with a sophisticated luxury that only the wearer can truly appreciate.

──What is the most rewarding aspect of being a designer?

It's the moment when I can convey the world of CHUNGKAWAI to many people, without being confined to a single perspective.
