Theme: "Industrial Design"

Unveiled this May at Tokyo's National Stadium, on the track where athletes sweat, was the new capsule collection "MONCLER W" from Moncler and White Mountaineering. The DNA of Both Brands – "Design, Utility, Technology" – Harmoniously Aligned

Moncler has previously engaged in ambitious capsule collections with Hiroki Nakamura, designer of "VISVIM," for "Moncler V," and with London-based designer Christopher Raeburn for "Moncler R." Now, they have partnered with "White Mountaineering," a brand led by designer Yosuke Aizawa, whose own brand shares a very similar DNA centered on "design, utility, and technology."

"Moncler W," named after the "W" from White Mountaineering, maximizes the brand's fundamental principles of design, utility, and technology, born from a Japanese sensibility for meticulous detail and unexpected design.

Yosuke Aizawa explains, "Building on what I've developed with White Mountaineering over the past eight years, this time the theme is an industrial design concept, much like how watches or cars are assembled from various parts and materials. I focused on combining materials like knit and nylon, leveraging Moncler's technical prowess, and ensuring even a single pocket was designed without compromise to achieve the strength of Moncler W."

The resulting 16 looks feature a mix of different shades of gray, green, and khaki with original jacquard fabric, accented by red and tone-on-tone details. Furthermore, the anti-freeze items, adorned with wave-shaped quilting stitches and transitions to knit materials, evoke a sense of high altitudes, presenting a collection of unique, high-level pieces that even professionals would admire.

Aizawa shares with a satisfied expression, "Designing the official warm-up suits for last year's London Olympics, and presenting White Mountaineering's 2013-14 Fall/Winter collection at Pitti Uomo this year – it's crucial for a designer to absorb external input. Including this work on Moncler W, there's definitely something that feeds back into my own development."

Moncler W will be available from mid-August at Moncler directly managed stores worldwide and select retailers.
