Numero Uno Autumn/Winter 2013-14 Collection

Numero Uno

This season's theme is "TRANSLATION." Focus on creating garments that translate existing clothing.

A pop and eye-catching collection.

“I want people to see how we’ve created a catalog that emphasizes the overall story and concept, rather than simply showcasing full-body outfits,” says Numero Uno designer Hiroshi Ozawa. Ozawa, who is both a stylist and a designer, explains this season's theme of “TRANSLATION.”

Clothing as a communication tool connecting people.

What is the theme/concept for the 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection?

Literally translated, this season's theme "TRANSLATION" means to translate or interpret. This collection takes it a step further than the stylist's perspective of coordination and the sense of "editing," developing it into the act of translating clothing.
Instead of creating something entirely new, we've focused on translating existing garments. For example, we've printed leopard patterns on wool flannel and created pieces with bold design切り替え (switches/transitions), combining items with distinct atmospheres.
We aim for clothing that serves as a communication tool connecting people, rather than philosophical, overly intellectual garments. The collection is designed to be pop and slightly eye-catching.

What is this season's key look (coordination)?

The key look and key item are the same: a leopard print coach jacket and pants combination. While using a strong pattern like leopard print, we've transformed it into a sophisticated, adult item by printing it on flannel. We've then styled it as a full suit with a coach jacket, pants, and cap.

Clothes that make you feel positive about the act of 'wearing'.

What "materials" did you focus on this season?

The leopard pattern was created originally. By printing a pattern with strong street vibes onto flannel, a sophisticated and original material was born.

What is the rewarding aspect of being a designer?

That there is no single correct answer. The fact that there is no definitive answer (or it cannot be found) regarding how far to go, or conversely, when not to.

A message to your fans.

I believe that by adding Numero Uno clothing to your wardrobe, you can feel more positive about the act of 'wearing'.
