The latest from "BG Brand," created by brand producer Keiko Toda and designer Go Ueki, is the "Striped 5★ T-Shirt," made from a fabric with a pleasant feel. We spoke with the two, who have been collaborating for nine years, about their passionate vision for the product.

Striped Front, Stylish Black Back
Go Ueki (hereinafter, Ueki)For this new BG Brand release, the first suggestion from Keiko-san was to go with stripes. I don't usually wear stripes, but you like them, right?

UekiThe striped long-sleeve tee from BG Brand was also your idea.
TodaOh, that's right. I guess I do like them. (laughs)
UekiI wanted to create a striped t-shirt that even I would like. Something that mixed cool and pop.
TodaExactly. That was the aim! So, first, we chose the striped fabric. We immediately decided on black and white for the stripes. There are various widths for the stripes too—I agonized over this, considering the fabric's feel, and chose them accordingly.
UekiAnd then we decided to switch to black for the back. It turned out to be a very stylish t-shirt.
TodaThe look from behind is great too, with the stripes on the sleeves and the black on the back. I initially thought about adding a pattern to the black part, but not doing so was the right choice. (laughs)
Some women worry about visible bra lines with white t-shirts, but this allows them to wear it with confidence.
UekiMen also worry about sweat. It's a win-win. We placed five stars around the front neckline. We wanted to give it a rock-inspired feel that we'd want to wear, not just something cute.
TodaThis time, we also varied the size of the stars for men and women. Since it's around the neckline, I thought it would look better to adjust the size for each.
UekiIt would also look stylish layered with a long-sleeve tee in winter, of course. The overall feel of this t-shirt surpasses luxury.
TodaAbove all, BG Brand creates its bodies from scratch. Last time, it was relaxed with a longer length, but this time it's a standard fit.
