Celebrating 13 Years: An Alden Sanctuary
Exclusive New Alden Collaborations
THE LAKOTA HOUSE, the direct-run store of Lakota, the importer of Alden, is celebrating its 13th year. They offer not only Alden's lineup, which fits the Japanese foot, but also a full selection of their own brand, Pegman shoes. We spoke with store manager Yosuke Hyodo about this season's offerings.

Your First Alden: Fit is Key
The name "Lakota," which is also the company name and used for the shop, means "companion, friend, ally, cooperation, harmony" in a Native American language. Store manager Yosuke Hyodo says, "We're pleased that customers, whether they travel from afar or just drop by from the neighborhood, can enjoy a relaxed shopping experience. Alden's sizing is unique, so for those seeking their first pair, we first inquire about the shoes they've worn before to make recommendations. We take the time to talk and ensure the perfect fit, so please feel free to visit us."
We asked about this season's recommendations. For Alden, Hyodo notes, "Many customers want to wear white in the summer, so we created our first custom white bucks with a V-tip. Also, our tassel loafers made with Chromexcel leather, an oiled leather, are fine even in light rain. The loafers in soft Lady Calf leather, in a rare 'loading green' color, are popular as they pair well with both black and brown outfits."
He adds, "While Alden focuses on basics, we add Lakota House exclusives that reflect the times. Because we hear customer requests directly at Lakota House, our custom orders incorporate those requests, which is a key feature."
Regarding the popular Pegman line, Store Manager Hyodo explains, "Pegman shoes are positioned as utility shoes, so the plain-toe model is finished elegantly while retaining an American feel. In a versatile brown, it's a pair we want you to wear in various settings. We've also released our first loafers this season."
At Lakota House, they also carry Alden and Pegman, as well as K.T. Lewiston belts, bags, and small leather goods, and belts and wallets from Germany's KREIS. Hyodo concludes, "We have leather specialists here, so please ask us anything." True to the shop's name "Lakota," it is a specialty store connecting creators and users.
