“Hot Rod” is a term that began to be used in California in the 1930s to describe cars customized for straight-line racing and fitted with larger engines. Later, the focus expanded beyond just speed to include the design of the car body.

At that time, artists who painted airbrushed art onto hot rod bodies began applying their skills to sweatshirts and T-shirts. While Von Dutch and ED ‘Big Daddy’ Roth became hugely popular, Von Franco, in particular, gained fame for his peculiar yet captivating “monster” artwork.

This time, Levi’s® Vintage Clothing has collaborated with the legendary Von Franco. A selection of the world's 35 limited-edition sweatshirts from the 1950s Levi’s® Vintage Clothing collection, each adorned with Von Franco’s monster illustrations, will be exhibited at Daikanyama T-Site.
