Indigo: The Must-Have Material for Spring/Summer 2013!
Regarding the "Dress-Up Casual" style proposed by HANKYU MEN'S TOKYO this spring, Keisuke Tokura, a buyer at Hankyu Men's, explains, "It's a sophisticated, urban casual style where a key item like an indigo shirt is paired with a tailored jacket or dress chinos. Indigo is the must-have trend material this season."
"The characteristic feature is how the rugged texture of indigo materials has evolved into a soft, delicate feel, incorporated into refined items like tailored jackets and dress shirts. The trend is shifting from the loose, relaxed silhouettes of the West Coast to more sophisticated, sharp lines. The most talked-about area is Brooklyn, a popular new cultural hub in NY. We focused on the style of men who live and play vibrantly in this creative city, where young musicians and artists have moved into former warehouses, creating a scene of trendy shops and cafes," says Mr. Tokura.
"The main look features an indigo shirt as a key item, paired with a tie, a tailored jacket, and dress chinos for the bottoms. The key color is, of course, indigo blue. As an accent color, we've added crimson red, reminiscent of Brooklyn's brick buildings," he explains, describing the styling concept.
During the "Indigothic" promotion, there are also many events. "This time, as a lifestyle proposal, we're focusing on the 'Third Wave Coffee' movement that's gaining momentum, particularly in Brooklyn. Local roasters and shops, distinct from large chains, are rapidly increasing. It's refreshing to savor coffee as a 'luxury item' once again. We hope you'll experience the lifestyle of those who discuss coffee like wine, with a dedication to vintage roasting machines and espresso makers."
