Authentic, Unique, and Supreme Denim is Born
In the summer of 2014, designer Leopoldo Durante visited Japan for the new collection launch of Care label. At an event held during the launch, stylist Tomoki Sukezane led a styling session and talk show. He also appeared in our magazine's series, Tomoki Sukezane Interviewswhere he drew out Sukezane's passion for denim creation.
Since then, Sukezane has resonated with the brand's stance and has been a private wearer of Care label denim.
In January 2015, the two reunited at Leopoldo's atelier in Puglia, Italy. This is where the collaboration project came to fruition. Two types of denim will be offered: rigid and white. Their quality and details are impeccably finished.
The rigid model uses the highest quality 14-ounce denim developed by Candiani, an Italian company. The elegant, matte denim boasts excellent color saturation, creating a sophisticated look. Yet, it possesses a substantial feel that truly embodies the essence of denim. The selvedge, accented with red and blue, signifies its special status.
The white model, on the other hand, utilizes material from Kurabo Industries, a leading Japanese textile manufacturer. This 10-ounce stretch denim is an ambitious material, woven on vintage looms using fibers produced with the latest technology. It offers a new option for white denim, showcasing Sukezane's unique direction.
Both models feature a comfortably slim, tapered straight silhouette. While creating a beautiful line, the three-dimensional pattern adheres to the body, ensuring no discomfort during wear.
Attention is also paid to the details that create a chic overall image. The stitching, executed with a finer and shorter pitch than usual, the black tag bearing Sukezane's signature, and the use of Japanese paper for the paper patch—a Care label icon—are just some of the unique arrangements found throughout.
Furthermore, the pocket lining features an illustration by Canadian illustrator Sarah Gwendon, reflecting Sukezane's humor and fashion sensibility.
These items, while using the highest quality materials, hold the spirit of authentic jeans. They represent a masterful fusion of Care label's expertise and technical prowess in denim, and the meticulous direction of Tomoki Sukezane, a leading figure in the fashion scene. They will be available from September 1st at select department stores and select shops nationwide.
