A Limited-Time Store for New Surf Brand "BANKS" Opens

BANKS, the buzzed-about surf brand born from a joint project between the US, Australia, and Japan, makes its debut at Barneys New York. Brad Gerlach, pro surfer and artist involved with the brand, visited Japan and held a live performance and talk event at the Ginza store on the opening day, Friday, May 22nd. A special preview of the road movie "Bella Vita," set for release in June, will also be screened.

"EVERY DAY JOURNEY" is the Brand Concept

BANKS was launched as a brand that conveys adult beach culture, spearheaded by Brad Gerlach, who conquered the world as a pro surfer in the 1990s and set numerous records, and Chris Del Moro, a pro surfer and artist who continuously travels the globe. The brand brings together surfers and artists from various countries.

The style, born from an exquisite balance of classic and modern, pursues harmony and functionality. The brand also sincerely confronts environmental issues, which they likely experience firsthand as surfers. This message, centered on "eco, style, and quality," is imbued in their casual wear.

Order Custom Double-Name Wetsuits

At the pop-up stores in Barneys New York's Ginza and Shinjuku locations, in addition to the inline collection, there will be limited-edition metallic print t-shirts and tapper wetsuits featuring a double name from Barneys New York and BANKS. These high-quality, Made in Japan wetsuits are an "XO (Exclusively ours)" items from Barneys New York, available for order only during this period.

Furthermore, items coveted by fans, such as the surfboard used by Brad Gerlach in his historic victory over Martin Potter in a WCT (World Championship Tour) surfing competition, will be on display. The talk event is also expected to reveal behind-the-scenes stories from the production of Chris Del Moro's autobiographical road movie, "Bella Vita."
