knitchy | Autumn/Winter 2014-15 Collection
knitchy
The latest collection, crafted from a variety of wools, mohair, cashmere, and sable.
Original knitwear born from materials and processing.
We want to create knitwear that embodies Tokyo.──knitchy is a knitwear brand founded with this sentiment by designers Yoshinaga Akimasa and Horiguchi Ryuhei. The brand name, a portmanteau of "Knit" and "Itchy," seems to convey both respect for beloved knitwear and a spirit of innovation.

The potential of animal hair fibers
──What is the theme/concept for the 2014-15 Autumn/Winter collection?
This season, we returned to exploring the diverse possibilities of animal hair fibers, approaching them through various techniques such as processing, twisting, and fulling. Our collection is developed primarily around original materials.
In our knitting, we focused on comfort, functionality, and authentic craftsmanship, utilizing techniques like our signature seamless whole-garment construction.
We express knitchy's unique approach to materials through items such as worsted wool with a mercerized washable finish, fur-processed cashmere that maximizes texture through washing with special solvents, original loop-back sweat fabric created from yarn typically used for high-gauge knits, brushed Shetland wool with a natural bristly texture achieved through thistle burrs, a waffle knit blending cotton, linen, and wool in original proportions, and a cable knit simultaneously woven with Shetland wool on the outside and soft lamb's wool on the inside against the skin.
──What materials did you focus on this season?
Various types of wool, mohair, cashmere, and sable.
