Textiles with Functions That Affect Our Environment and Minds

Masaru Suzuki has designed for numerous domestic and international textile brands, including his own original brand "OTTAIPNU," as well as "Marimekko," "Lapuan Kankurit," and "Moomin Tribute Works." He is popular for his vibrant, deep colors born from overlapping prints, and his humorous motifs combined with dynamic compositions.

The "Masaru Suzuki's Textiles: Umbrellas, Rugs, and Towels" exhibition will feature the "OTTAIPNU Umbrella & Parasol COLLECTION," designed to make you want to go out even on gloomy days with strong sun or rain; the "Suzuki Masaru × NEXT HOME COLLABORATION DESIGN RUG," chosen like a piece of art to adorn a space; and the "OTTAIPNU TOWEL COLLECTION," designed to bring joy to daily use. These items will be on display and available for purchase.

Additionally, the "Masaru Suzuki × BeoPlay A9 Limited Edition" speaker covers, released in Japan-exclusive limited quantities to commemorate the update of the music system "BeoPlay A9" from "B&O PLAY," the casual brand of audio-visual manufacturer "Bang & Olufsen," will also be exhibited, alongside other textile works.

"To Be Able to Be Close to Someone's Life"

Regarding the exhibition, Masaru Suzuki states, "This exhibition showcases and sells various textile products that surround our daily lives, such as rain umbrellas, parasols, rugs, towels, and speaker covers. Rather than being cool or modernly stylish, I believe they are designed to resonate with and influence the more ambiguous aspects of people's 'moods' and 'feelings.' They evoke reactions like 'Wow!' or 'Yay!' upon seeing them, and a sense of 'Oh!' or 'This feels good' when using them – something intangible. I hope these textile products, created with that 'something' in mind, can become a part of someone's life."

Colors and patterns drift through spaces, sway within our minds, and elevate our moods through use. We want to enjoy Masaru Suzuki's textiles in our lives – textiles that are not only practical but also possess functions that affect our environment and minds, expressed through materials, weaves, and textures that differ entirely depending on their purpose.
